Playstyles Explained

Boxing

Close Range Pressure

A close-range pressure fighting style focused on rapid punch combinations and relentless forward pressure. Boxing overwhelms opponents with sustained offense, using quick lights and tight spacing to deny room to breathe.

Strengths

Fastest close-range pressure in the game. Rapid light chains and tight spacing suffocate opponents before they can weave or counter. Excellent at staggering and forcing guard breaks through sheer volume.

Recommended Team Composition

Point fighter. Pair with a spacing style like Muay Thai to create a close-range and mid-range threat duo. A Boxing player pressures up close while their partner covers approach angles and punishes weaves.

Muay Thai

Aggressive Spacing

An aggressive spacing fighting style that controls the mid-range with precise strikes and calculated aggression. Muay Thai players maintain optimal distance, punishing approaches with well-timed strikes while staying just out of the opponent's effective range.

Strengths

Superior mid-range control with punishing strikes that keep opponents at the perfect distance. Aggressive spacing means you always fight at your preferred range. Excellent at whiff-punishing and countering approaches.

Recommended Team Composition

Spacing specialist. Pair with a close-range style like Boxing for a one-two punch — Boxing pressures up close while Muay Thai controls the approach. Add a Hakari player for opportunistic burst damage.

Hakari

Burst Damage

A balanced fighting style that specializes in burst damage through calculated openings. Hakari players wait for the right moment to unleash devastating combo sequences, balancing patience with explosive damage output.

Strengths

Versatile burst damage with balanced offense and defense. Can adapt to close-range and mid-range situations equally well. Calculated combo sequences deal massive damage in short windows.

Recommended Team Composition

Flexible team player. Fits into any crew composition as a secondary damage dealer or opportunistic finisher. Pairs well with an aggressive style that creates openings for Hakari's burst combos.

Hoop Demon

Flashy Burst

The most aggressive fighting style in Gakuran, featuring flashy burst damage and overwhelming offensive pressure. Hoop Demon combines show-stopping combos with raw damage output, making it the S-tier pick for players who want to dominate fights.

Strengths

Highest burst damage in the game with flashy combo sequences that overwhelm most defensive options. Aggressive frame data means opponents rarely get a turn to attack. Dominant in 1v1 and crew fights alike.

Recommended Team Composition

Primary damage dealer. Build your crew around Hoop Demon's offensive pressure. Pair with a support player who can cover retreats and a spacing player who can engage from different angles for cross-up setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best fighting style for beginners?+

Can I switch fighting styles mid-game?+
You can reroll your fighting style at any time through the style selection menu. Your first reroll is free, and every subsequent reroll costs 5 Robux. Your new style is randomly assigned from the 4 available styles.
How do I unlock more fighting styles?+
All 4 fighting styles — Boxing, Muay Thai, Hakari, and Hoop Demon — are available from the start. You get one randomly assigned at character creation. To try a different style, use your free reroll or pay 5 Robux per reroll.
Does height affect which style is best?+
Yes, height affects reach and stamina, which changes style effectiveness. Taller characters benefit more from Boxing and Hoop Demon due to extended reach, while shorter characters gain more from Muay Thai spacing and Hakari burst windows thanks to better stamina efficiency.
